Ooh aah too bizarre
Design group Graven Images has achieved that pinnacle of design success, usually only achieved by projects for British Airways and privatised utilities – tabloid outrage.
Under the headline “WE WUZ FOBBED” The cover for the Glasgow Celtic v Liverpool football match programme was attacked by the Daily Record as “bizarre”. The 1970s key fobs used to illustrate the cover are described as looking “more like two teletubbies than a pair of footballers”.
Client Adrian Searle of the Glasgow Development Agency is unrepentant. “We’re delighted… to reach an audience otherwise inaccessible to our design message”, he says.
