Architects brew Alessi collection

Alessi is launching an exhibition of tea and coffee sets designed by 20 contemporary architects. The collection will be shown at the Sir John Soane’s Museum in September.

The architects involved, including Jean Nouvel, Zaha Hadid, Denton Corker Marshall (work pictured right) and Will Alsop, have ventured into new ground, designing domestic objects using materials that range from silver and titanium to plastic and wood.

The project was inspired by Alessi’s 1970s collection Tea and Coffee Piazza, which resulted in iconic designs such as Michael Graves’s kettle.

The products will be displayed in the museum from 16 September.
