Design award for Himedia

LG Electronics is holding its 1995 international design competition on the theme Himedia: Creating a new age. Prizes totalling ú22 500 include a first prize of ú9375.

LG Electronics is holding its 1995 international design competition on the theme Himedia: Creating a new age. Prizes totalling ú22 500 include a first prize of ú9375.

The biennial competition will explore hi-tech media communications for the next century. “The integration of remote communications, education and entertainment will again alter the lifestyle of human beings,” says an LG Electronics spokesman.

The categories are consumer electronics, electrical appliances, computers and communication products. The deadline for entries is 2 June.

The judging panel includes Anthony Jones, rector of the Royal College of Art, Kimura Kazuo of the Japan Industrial Designers’ Association and Stefano Marzano of Philips Corporate Design in the Netherlands. Judging will be held in Seoul, South Korea – the home of LG Electronics.
