Plumb Interiors sinks

Plumb Interiors Contracting Limited – established 100 years ago – is to close as a result of `too much competition from interior designers’, according to Roy Barber, chairman of umbrella company Raine Industries.

Plumb was shopfitter on the ú10.5m refit of the House of Fraser’s Rackham stores in Leicester (DW 14 May 1993). `Plumb had a good reputation but couldn’t get the prices it needed for the quality of its work,’ explains Barber.

A Raine spokesman says there are no plans to close shopfitter Gibson Lea and interiors contractor Lycett & Platt, Plumb’s other companies under the Raine umbrella. Plumb Interiors will close at the end of 1995.
