Carl von Weiler

In a rather oblique and eccentric reference to sleep, Carl von Weiler’s Lullaby is a video installation which shows the artist himself hanging from the ceiling, tied to an inverted bed, where he vainly attempts to promote the possibility of sleep by playing a small musical device to himself. This performance is projected into a specially built ‘room’, one of three which have transformed the gallery into another space, another world, somewhere between dreamless sleep and sleepless dream.

Carl von Weiler’s Lullaby is showing at Matt’s Gallery, 42-44 Copperfield Road, London E3, from April 19 – May 25.
