Design Centre gets the go-ahead

Planning permission for the Design Centre for the North has been granted by Gateshead Council.

Based in the city’s Baltic Business Park, the building is designed by Newcastle architect Red Box Design as a five-storey ‘drum’ building with three three-storey wings.

Housing design studios, a 3D digital design facility, exhibition gallery, coffee bar, restaurant and office units, the centre aims to promote the benefits of design to businesses and industry.
