Lack of production is no car trouble for Mead

We fear we may have contracted a new obsession: Tron nostalgia. The next edition of über-trendy car mag Intersection (‘from the people who brought you Dazed & Confused’) features a profile of Syd Mead – ‘dark genius, futurist, design icon and vehicle artist behind the look of films like Tron and Blade Runner’, according to the blurb.

‘I’m never offended if one of my car designs never makes it to production,’ says Mead. ‘For me, it’s just as real on paper as if it were driving down the street.’

Yeah, like Jeff Bridges on that luminous, electronic motorcycle. Far out.
