Europe takes 14 golds at New York Festival

UK and European groups have made a strong showing in a clutch of US design awards. European consultancies picked up 14 gold medals in The New York Festivals’ print advertising section.

European consultancies picked up 14 gold medals in The New York Festivals’ print advertising section. Lewis Moberly won a grand award and a gold for pack design in the own-brand category for Boots Children’s Batteries, Newell and Sorrell received best photography for the Pharmacia & Upjohn brochure and a gold went to Yellow M for Scottish Natural Heritage’s corporate stationery.

Other golds at the New York Festivals went to Manchester’s McCann-Erickson; Wunderman Cato Johnson and Lowe & Partners in Germany; Futura in Slovenia; Hartinger Consulting and Demner, Merlicek & Bergmann, both in Austria; and Spain’s Contrapunto and Casadevall Pedreno.

English & Pockett is tipped to pick up awards for broadcast design at BDA International’s Design Awards, announced today. MTV Europe is also expected to make a strong showing.
