Last orders for mock Victoriana pub designs
The Pub Design Awards (DW Diary, 7 March) bring together conservation experts from English Heritage and the Victorian Society, a practising architect, and members of CAMRA’s specialist Pubs Group – the chair of which is a woman. No, she does not have a beard.
I don’t know what is “weird” about liking pubs and feeling that the current standards of pub design could be improved. Design professionals and the average drinker at the bar could agree on that, surely?
Perhaps we should invite Design Week to our first judges meeting for 1997, so you could see why the judges have been unable to find a winner in the New Build category. The answer, I am afraid, is the quality of the entries received.
