Cambridgeshire County Council to commission sculptor

Cambridgeshire County Council has commissioned sculptor and designer Gerry Judah to design visual concepts for the first new bridge over the River Cam in 40 years. Working with engineer Whitby Bird, Judah says the form of the cycleway-cum-footbridge has not been finalised: ‘We are going to bring a bit of art into the bridge through the lighting and detail; we might even create something that illuminates as you walk over it.’ The bridge is due to open in September 2005.
