Richard Clayton visits London’s West End to view a series of line-drawings by Andy Warhol that deconstruct and dilute the icons of Communism

Also on show at Haunch of Venison is Warhol’s silver spray-painted version of Ethel Scull Thirty-Six Times (1963), one of his earliest and most famous silkscreens. Hurry to see it though – unlike the hammers and sickles, it’s up for sale. Maybe Roman Abramovich would like something for the boardroom at Stamford Bridge?

Andy Warhol: Hammer and Sickle, from 19 May- 5 June, is at Haunch of Venison gallery, 6 Haunch of Venison Yard, London, W1K. Tel: 020 7495 5050
