Imperial War Museum is known for innovation

I was disappointed to find the Imperial War Museum identified as a less worthy cause for Government support than “other facilities bent on stimulating change in perception about the future” (Comment, DW 7 November). By all means lump some heritage venues in this category, but not the Imperial War Museum.

Despite our non-pc title, the museum is known internationally for its innovative approach to design and interpretation in its subject area. We use world-class designers and architects (Foster, Libeskind, Conran, Minale Tattersfield et al). But equally, by putting faith in less established design groups, we have helped to launch careers and introduce new creativity into our exhibitions, which in turn stimulates the public and design professionals alike.
