A Cut Above the Rest, from 23 August to 26 October, features blades – from scissors to scythes, surgical saws to ice skates – taken from the Hawley Collection at the University of Sheffield.

John Piper: A Versatile Artist, from 23 August to 21 September, showcases Piper’s abstract paintings, watercolours, sculptures and textile designs.

Venue: Sherborne House, Newland, Sherborne, Dorset DT9 3JG.

Lomographer Darren Groucutt exhibits a selection of images taken during the past two years in his exhibition Dodge, until 1 September.

Venue: Unit 2.8-2.9 Kingly Court, Carnaby Street, London W1.

Pure Brighton in association with the underground magazine Pure is on display from 22 August until 10 September. The event showcases some of the leading artists of the Brighton art scene.

Artist Richard Long’s new work shows until 30 August at Here And Now And Then, which includes photographs and sculptures as well as mud and text works made directly on the gallery walls.
