Interbrand director Simmons quits

John Simmons, Interbrand director of verbal identity, has left the group after 19 years to work as a consultant and writer.

He plans to work with writers’ collective 26 and www.thewriter.co.uk, as well as corporate clients.

Interbrand chairman Rita Clifton says a decision has not yet been made on replacing Simmons.

Simmons (above) joined Interbrand, then Newell & Sorrell, in 1984. Since the success of his first book on writing for brands, We, Me, Them and It, he has been a focal point of the group’s marketing.
