Wouldn’t it be great if one day the only way we could get cigarettes was from behind the counter. It would certainly take away the cool factor and make you realise what it is you are doing to your self. Tibor Kalman’s idea was so insightful when he created the un-branded pack idea for all cigarettes. It totally inspired me. It’s a great image that underlines one of our big modern social dilemmas. Because the tobacco industry is so wealthy and a key revenue generator for our Government, it is hard to see how an un-branded approach to tobacco would ever become a reality and yet, the Government is spending millions on advertising to get us to give up. Do you think they might be using the revenues from the tax they make on tobacco? Is it just me? Anyway, should it ever happen, then here is the way it ought to look. I’ve taken Kalman’s idea and stripped it down even further to it’s pure generic form, taking away the branded names and then repositioning it behind the counter where it belongs. Makes full sense to me. This way we can all have our cake or smoke it if we wish. Marksteen Adamson
