Train logos by Giant and CGI

Marsteller Giant has created the new name and identity for the former Regional Railways North East, to reflect its transition to privatisation. It will be known as Northern Spirit from today.

“The name and identity reflect the new brand values: friendly, responsive and efficient. The logo is strong, bold and uses modern colours,” says a Marsteller Giant spokeswoman.

The identity will roll out over the next few months, and the interiors of the 191-strong fleet of trains will be repainted to reflect the new corporate colours.

Marsteller Giant has also redesigned the identity for subsidiary network Transpennine Express to align it with the parent.

Meanwhile, Corporate Graphics International has created the identity for Connex Metro, Connex Rail’s frequent rail service. The identity will roll out to all Connex stations which can guarantee a minimum of four trains an hour to London off-peak, and is designed to be bold and visible.

Southwest Trains has appointed Redjacket to review interiors of its trains. Design details are still under wraps.
