US stores to join Bluewater

US clothing and homewares retailer Eddie Bauer is to introduce its home-grown store format to the UK, with adaptations made for the British market, when the giant Bluewater shopping centre opens next year.

The chain’s US store format has been adapted by London group Design Solution. The new format will be used in all subsequent UK store openings, according to an Eddie Bauer spokeswoman.

US footwear giant Timberland will also use the “next level” store format at Bluewater, already used in the group’s Covent Garden branch.

The stores, and the original US format on which they are based, were developed by Timberland’s in-house design team. The company has plans for flagship stores in cities across Europe.
