Wolf Olins puts Odeon on-line

The Odeon cinema chain unveiled its website, which allows customers to book tickets on-line, on Tuesday. The site, designed by Wolff Olins, goes live next week and is the first in Europe to offer this service.

“We made a point of trying to avoid all cinema metaphors, making it more sophisticated and abstract,” says consultancy multimedia director Jane Wentworth.

The site “had to have ‘wow factor’ to encourage on-line sales and ticket orders”, says consultancy project manager Gabby Malpas.

Wolff Olins was responsible for tweaking the Odeon identity, and upgrading its 76 nationwide cinemas (DW 24 October 1997).

Education and training company CRT is to relaunch this week. Wolff Olins created the new identity and the name, Spring.
