Tag McLaren Audio, a division of Tag McLaren, is making two of its five-strong design team redundant after a restructuring of the business. The company had decided the department was overstaffed.
Platform team leader of graphic design Charles Allen joined the group 12 months ago from Fitch, where he was associate director. He will be leaving Tag McLaren Audio at the beginning of November. Industrial designer Jonathan Wells will also be leaving the company next month as a result of the changes.
Tag McLaren Audio chief executive Udo Zucker defends the decision. “Resources are tailored to the needs of the business and there was not enough quality work available to keep someone of Charles’s high calibre happy,” he says.
Both Allen and head of product design Clive Grinyer, a former colleague at Fitch, who is remaining in his position, were unavailable for comment.
