United behind new hotel interiors

United Designers is creating interiors for the new 139-room Four Seasons Hotel, due to open in London’s Canary Wharf at the beginning of December.

Situated to serve Canary Wharf’s growing business community, the Four Seasons will be equipped with 125 bedrooms and 14 suites.

United Designers, which was appointed for the job in June 1998, has designed the lobby, reception, bar, ballroom and Quadrato restaurant.

Consultancy project co-director Edward Price says: “The main triple-height lobby promises to be a spectacular place, featuring four timber cubes housing the concierge, coat check, bar and reception seating, which have been twisted to appear as free-standing elements.”

Project co-director Rachel French adds: “The interiors feature natural materials of timber, stone and leather in keeping with our belief in creating modern classics that mature well.”
