Design Council looking for director of design

The Design Council is seeking a director of design and innovation to replace Sean Blair, its former director of design and communication. The new position has been broadened beyond the traditional design role and aims to help businesses use design more effectively. Andrew Summers, Design Council chief executive, says: “We want someone with in-depth experience, from either business or consultancy, who understands the strategic importance of design to business.”

He adds that the council will advertise nationally and is scouring consultancies to fill the new role. It hopes to appoint someone before the end of the year.

Following Anthony Land’s retirement, the Design Council is also seeking a new director of resources and planning.
