British Steel takes initiative

British Steel is launching a major design competition in late May to reward excellence in 3D design and put product sustainability on to the agenda.

Called Design Solutions, the project involves the Design Museum, British Design and Art Direction and the Architecture Foundation. Prizes of up to

40 000 will be awarded to recognised products.

British Steel product and market development director Geoff Hooker recognises the importance of design in industry. “British manufacturing and culture have underestimated the importance of good design and Design Futures is set to redress this situation,” he says.
