Grey Matter on recruitment trail

Grey Matter Consulting is looking for a brand strategist, just three weeks after sacking a designer and an administrative member of staff (DW 2 April). Its sister company, Williams and Phoa Design, is looking for two designers.

The Grey Matter vacancy, advertised in last week’s Design Week, is part of the London group’s restructuring plans to focus the consultancy on corporate and product branding, while building the brand strategy team. The changes signify a move away from the consultancy’s former specialisms in design for print and covering financial, corporate and marketing communications.

But Grey Matter business development manager John Lovell says: “We are not creating a new position, but replacing our brand strategist. Meanwhile, Williams and Phoa is strengthening its design function within, and replacing a position.”

Lovell also says that more redundancies in the near future are “very unlikely” though he is unable to confirm whether there would be more job vacancies.
