Poke writes a viral message for Orange

Interactive design group Poke has created a series of four microsites as part of an on-line viral campaign for mobile phone operator Orange.

The design group was briefed to create a range of sites targeting different profiles of Orange customer with details of its Try offer, whereby existing customers can try services for free that they don’t currently use.

According to Poke creative director Nicolas Roope, the overall objective of the project is to raise awareness and encourage ‘sign-up to trial’ via the www.orange.co.uk website.

‘We created a set of four playful microsites, each with their own URL to maximise the chances of viral success,’ Roope explains. ‘By presenting a range of styles and executions we can encourage visitors to try at least one site.’

The treatments are entitled: Sim Salon, Big Orange Button, Celebulike and Lifetime Friend (pictured below). The Lifetime Friend site lets users ‘try owning a virtual pet, with no risk’, says Roope, while Celebulike allows you to star in your own celebrity photo story by uploading a photograph of yourself via the site. Sim Salon gives users the chance to simulate tattoos and piercings on their pictures.
