Small Back Room energises BP marketing project

Small Back Room has created a marketing package for BP Solar Solutions designed to raise its Green credentials at the forthcoming Johannesburg Earth Summit.

The £25 000 brief includes a brochure, flyer and CD-ROM showcasing BP Solar’s recent projects in the Philippines and Brazil. All creative work carries the BP Solar slogan ‘sustainable solutions from the sun’.

BP Solar business development analyst Roebyem Heintz led the project, but was unavailable for comment. However, Small Back Room project manager Sarah Taylor is confident the materials will win over sceptics questioning the oil industry’s commitment to sustainable energy.

‘Communicating an environmentally friendly message should be easy because the striking imagery used in the materials speaks for itself,’ says Taylor.

‘But finding images that illustrated our aims was tough because most solar energy photography concentrates on kit. We’ve gone for images that show genuine benefits,’ she adds.

Initially Small Back Room presented two marketing concepts, one concentrating on the human benefits of BP Solar and the other on wider practical advantages. It was decided the latter best communicates the client’s objectives.
