BBC Radio 1 has appointed London new media group Deep End Design to revamp its website after a six-way unpaid pitch.

Deep End won the job over London groups Flabbergasted, Heder and Abbey Road Interactive, Nottingham consultancy Broadband Communications and Music Network from Manchester.

Deep End will be responsible for developing the site, giving it a more coherent identity and creating backgrounds for the stations’ shows. No date has been set for completion of the website.

“Much of the BBC’s website work is done in-house, but we like to use outside consultancies as well,” a spokesman says.
