Ex-Wolff Olins staff start-up Be

Brand Environment, the start-up consultancy established by two ex-Wolff Olins senior 3D designers, has been appointed by an unnamed airline and has won two rail projects since its unofficial launch at the start of this year.

Be, as the consultancy will trade, has been set up by architect Robert Wood and interior designer Joseph Mitchell, who have between them headed projects for Go, Orange, Heathrow Express Channel 5, Lloyds TSB and Tesco.

The duo will concentrate on branding and identity work. Both say they have extensive transport and retail experience, but do not want to be pigeonholed.

Wood says the consultancy is looking to extend the Wolff Olins work ethic rather than overturn it. “Because we are lighter and faster, we can be much more innovative with brands,” he adds.

Further multidisciplined staff will be recruited to the consultancy’s London offices as more projects are won.
