This is a rare glimpse behind the scenes of the snooty Chelsea Arts Club, which hardly ever allows a member of the press to pass through its portals. Absolut Vodka persuaded the club to allow portrait artist Howard Morgan to paint this scene as part of its promotion, and elitist members needed a lot of persuading, according to an Absolut spokeswoman. Unfortunately, Absolut’s efforts are almost unrewarded – can you see a hint of vodka in this picture? ‘It’s somewhere on the table if you look closely, it’s subtle that’s all,’ says Absolut. Perhaps ‘token’ is the word.
