Amber light for next Alphabet

The team behind Alphabet, the 1998 Evening Standard London bar of the year, is opening a new venue in the capital later this year, with a Latin American theme.

To be situated in Soho’s Poland Street, close to Alphabet, the new bar will be called Amber and is due to open in October. Alphabet co-owner Spike Marchant says it will be completely different to Alphabet, which was influenced by the New York loft concept.

“The original bar was done in-house with some advice from an architect, and by and large we will do it again in-house with some input from furniture design groups Bulldozers and Nathan Abbey. It will be warm and enduring to generate a welcoming atmosphere,” explains Marchant.
