Habitat launches interiors service

Habitat has formally launched a business design service which has been on trial for the past six months. At present the organisation consists of a six-strong team.

Habitat Business offers an interior design service to office and property developers. Galliard Homes, the developer of apartments at the former Greater London Council headquarters County Hall, is one of its clients.

Habitat Business has designed and furnished a number of apartments acquired by overseas investors in the complex. Hotels are to be another target market.

Meanwhile, the retailer has appointed design consultancy Morey Smith to redesign its Cambridge store. It is Morey Smith’s first project for Habitat. The consultancy’s recent work has included designing the Virgin Bride wedding shop.

The consultancy joins Habitat’s list of five retained designers, alongside Davies Baron, Din Associates, Tim Bushe Associates, Studio Citterio and Gerard Taylor.

A Morey Smith spokeswoman says she hopes the relationship will be a long one.
