Underground the Brand Laundry has created packaging for Twister Moves, Hasbro’s disco dancing spin-off from the classic children’s party game, which goes on shelf at the end of this month.
Twister Moves is a ‘next generation’ product, aimed at children aged eight years and above, that taps into the popularity of computer arcade dance machines, where players are prompted to step on different floor-lights in time with the music. Hasbro’s version uses four colour-coded mats and two bespoke CDs featuring more than 100 dance tracks.
Underground’s brief was to design packaging that incorporated existing Twister branding while making the new game appealing to a slightly older age group, including PlayStation fans, explains Hasbro lead design controller, games and creative play Dominique Gibbs.
The group also created the dance mat – which features red, green, blue and purple spots for players to step on – and the CD sleeves.
‘We wanted an aspirational, cool and energetic pack design,’ says Gibbs. ‘Part of the appeal of Twister Moves is that it can be played with up to four players, which is important when you’re competing with PlayStation.’
