Boris needs to build on Ken’s legacy as champion of the arts

Regarding your Voxpop on how the new London Mayor can build on Ken Livingstone’s work (DW 15 May), London is the financial and design capital of the world. This hasn’t happened by accident, but with the support of our City grandees and the Mayor in particular, who has stood four-square behind the creative industries.

The London Development Agency has stood out through its enlightened support for the built environment, and also its championing of initiatives such as the London Design Festival and Designing Demand.

All this and more help to make London one of the epicentres of creativity on the global stage. It’s vitally important for Boris Johnson to build on this legacy.
