Elmwood increases its workforce

Elmwood is doubling the number of brand consultants it employs as it expands its London office, The Nursery.

The move appears to buck the recessionary trend that has seen design consultancies in all disciplines and of all sizes make redundancies and even cease trading.

The move represents an increase of 12 per cent in Elmwood’s total number of employees in its offices in Yorkshire and London. The London outfit was set up a year ago and is also doubling its workshop floor space in response to increased business from existing clients, Elmwood claims.

The consultancy maintains that the recruitment drive is a direct result of the success of its Step Change creative thinking process, which it launched last November.

Clients that have already embarked on Step Change programmes include NCR, McVitie’s, Findus, The Football Association and Interbrew, according to head of brand innovation Greg Taylor.

‘We kept it tight to begin with, but we can’t keep working at this pace. As we move on to the next level of relationships with clients we are doing more implementation work and day-to-day brand communication,’ he comments.
