Tanino Crisci opens London store

Italian luxury leather goods retailer Tanino Crisci is opening its first UK store in London, featuring interiors by Mark Hill Design.

The shop, located in Piccadilly’s Burlington Arcade, is scheduled to open this Friday.

It is the first major project for creative director Mark Hill, former Allen International senior designer, who set up the group in June.

The brief was to retain the ‘classic Italian’ values of Tanino Crisci, but modernise the design of existing boutiques in Milan, Rome, Tokyo, Paris and New York.

‘The [Burlington Arcade] location immediately lends the store an “English” feel so we were able to keep a strong Italian element in the interiors,’ says Hill.

Mark Hill won the work after a four-way ‘informal’ pitch against unnamed rivals and was appointed by HM Advertising, which is handling Tanino Crisci’s advertising. The agency also found the site for the London store.

Tanino Crisci may open other UK stores if the London flagship is successful, Hill adds.

The design work commanded a fee of about £12 000.
