CDG creates ‘friendly’ Abbey National branch

Conran Design Group is creating a fresh format for Abbey National’s new branch at Bluewater shopping centre, focusing on customer accessibility.

If the format is successful, “they will want to convert [Abbey National’s 800] existing sites”, says CDG business development director Peers de Trensé.

The consultancy has created an environment which reflects the organisation’s friendly, straightforward approach, says a CDG spokeswoman, where browsing is encouraged. “The new branch design is going to shake up the marketplace,” says de Trensé. The identity remains unchanged.

This is CDG’s first retail project for the client, following its work on customer literature.
