A life in bondage for young designers

It might seem that the easiest way to research the location of well-designed London bars would be to simply ask the funky young designers who work nearby.

Not so. Just such an exercise recently, to identify which kind of bars might influence interior design trends, met with blank stares from the supposedly wild creative types in Clerkenwell and Soho.

The reason is clear – they never go out. ‘We’re chained to our desks night and day,’ confesses one. ‘By the time we do get off work we’re too tired to do anything but sleep.’
