Samsung to expand its UK design team

Korean consumer electronics giant Samsung is expanding its UK design team with the creation of three positions, which will take its tally of permanent staff to eight.

Former PSD Associates senior product designer Chris Woodward joins the team on 3 September as senior designer, reporting to design manager Clive Goodwin.

He will be working on a project in conjunction with three as-yet unnamed consultancies, says Goodwin, details of which are still under wraps.

Woodward will not specialise in any particular areas, adds Goodwin. ‘We start each project with a brainstorming session,’ he says. ‘That way, everyone gets a chance to work on every project and not get pigeon-holed into a specific area.’

A junior designer and an interactive specialist are joining the team in early 2003. Goodwin says they ‘have [someone] in mind’ for both positions.
