Bids have this week been lodged for the ú200 000 Government cash to be distributed by the Design Council.

Bidding organisations, including the Design Business Association and the Chartered Society of Designers, must wait to see if requests for grants of up to ú25 000 are successful.

Meanwhile, the council is advertising for its four new directors of design, communication, education and research at salaries of about ú50 000.
