Boots No 7 – the largest cosmetic brand in the UK – hits the shelves this week with new structural packaging designed by product consultancy Lyons Ames.
The consultancy designed components such as lipstick cases and compacts for the range, after winning a competitive paid pitch against two other design groups. Workhouse designed the graphics (DW 3 February).
“It was quite a difficult brief,” says Lyons Ames partner David Ames. “It had to look premium, but unlike an expensive brand, it’s a self-service range. We had to make it obvious what each product is. There is, for example, a window in the compact so the colour and texture can be seen”.
The consultancy has designed products for Boots No 17 before and some structural packaging for the previous No 7 range.
