Guinness is unveiling a new countermount for its stout in pubs, bars and clubs across the UK. Design is by Tutssels.

The new design involved a “big structural element”, says Tutssels director David Adams.

Key to the design is the high pouring position of the tap.

“It is high up so you can see the Guinness being poured. The whole two-part pouring exercise is very important to Guinness and a fundamental part of how to get more Irishness in,” says Adams.

A lot of work went into working with countermount manufacturer AG Standard to get the illuminated “pint” looking like a real pint, adds Adams. “We wanted to get a `grab-ability’ factor, with the glass appearing to hover on a halo of light at the bottom of the glass.”
