The Met Office has appointed Corporate Edge to develop a new identity. The new look might be used on-screen for the Met Office’s weather forecasting services.
Corporate Edge has been briefed to build upon the standing of the organisation both in the UK and abroad. The Met Office works with a range of clients – for example, offering long term weather trend forecasting to retailers to allow effective clothes buying – as well as providing TV weather forecasts.
Owned by the Ministry of Defence, it also provides weather data to the Royal Air Force and Civil Aviation Authority.
The new identity is likely to be launched in June. The project will look at the possibility of including the identity on-screen during BBC weather forecasts. At present there is a small icon crediting the Met Office with providing data.
