Cilla Black’s pally chat on Blind Date is just a load of hot air, according to an excellent source.
Hannah Jones, receptionist at London consultancy Fishburn Hedges since March (“it seems like years”) recently came uncomfortably close to the spangly-dressed flame-haired purveyor of Liverpudlian clichés.
Hannah saw Blind Date’s ad in London’s Evening Standard, along the lines of “if you’re young, bright, intelligent, funny…”. She says she felt she is “none of those – so I may as well apply”!
And she survived the rigorous audition process. “There were all these girls who’d really gone to town, dressed up to get noticed, while I was in my boring suit,” says Hannah, who was asked, strangely enough, to do an impersonation of Madonna presenting Blue Peter.
“The filming was really exciting; they got me to do the splits in my leather trousers. But the first time we saw Cilla was on the sofa, then she vanishes abruptly after the show. All that matey stuff is pretence,” she adds.
But the big question is did our Hannah get on Blind Date? You’ll just have to wait until January to find out, when the show is screened.
