Zaha Hadid’s design for the Addressing the Century fashion/art retrospective displayed garments flat on asymmetric Perspex plinths which become progressively higher as you travel through the gallery. Taking inspiration from the displayed ballet designs of Fernand Leger and Oskar Schlemmer, and the slashes in Lucio Fontana’s art and clothes, the show culminates in a dramatic, distorted-horseshoe shaped plinth to show off contemporary work.
