CDG to work on 2000 products

Conran Design Group has been appointed by the British Council and the Design Council to develop the next exhibition of Millennium Products.

The appointment sees the end of the current travelling exhibition of Millennium Products, by Studio Myerscough with architect Allford Hall Monaghan Morris.

CDG won the work following a three-way pitch against Met Studio and Land, held on 23 July.

“This new exhibition will replace the other one, which has reached the end of its life,” says a Design Council spokesman.

The latest exhibition of Millennium Products, an initiative launched by Prime Minister Tony Blair in 1997, is set to commence a European tour next year.

Design Council chief executive Andrew Summers says: “Our Millennium Products touring exhibitions have already been a huge success across the world. I look forward to seeing them gain an exciting new lease of life through Conran Design Group.”

So far 777 products have been awarded Millennium Product status. A final round of awards will be made in December.
