Design Week at 100¬how

Design Week is hosting a discussion on materials and how they can inform design innovation at contemporary furniture show 100% Design.

Speakers at the session, to be held at 2pm today at Earls Court Two exhibition hall in west London and chaired by DW editor Lynda Relph-Knight, are Dale Russell of Russell Studio and Thomas Heatherwick of Thomas Heatherwick Studios.

Russell is an advisor on colour, texture and form to companies as diverse as US motor giant Ford and UK bathrooms specialist Ideal Standard. Heatherwick trained in furniture design, but now works on a variety of projects, including the Science Museum’s Materials House and the D&AD Gold-winning Harvey Nichols window display.

DW has also taken a stand at the exhibition, featuring the work of Design Nation representatives William Warren of WW.modcons and Brighton ceramics duo Hub.
