Is ANA marque just a copycat Air Portugal logo?

While not a keen promoter of stating the obvious, I picked out the article ANA clearance for CGI identity (News, DW 17 September) due more to what it didn’t report rather than what it did.

As perky, fresh and go-ahead as the new ANA logo appears, I saw no mention of its apparent design links with Air Portugal – TAP, which shares the same font.

Putting a “motion slash” through the letters may look flash, but I wouldn’t consider that to be “revolutionary in nature” or “modernising”.

The colour change could have been to any hue, but has simply changed to the other national colour of Portugal. Not much to do with avoiding confusion with airline liveries, where primary colours abound.
