Conran restaurant to open in Japan

Terence Conran is to open his first restaurant in Asia, in a deal with Japanese restaurateur Hiroyuki Hiramatsu.

Conran Restaurants will introduce a venue in Japan within the next two years and a further eight to ten businesses are planned over the next decade.

Conran Group will be responsible for all brand concept development for the restaurants, which will be managed by Hiramatsu. The details of locations and naming for the venues are still to be decided, according to a Conran Restaurants spokeswoman.

The company will create all interior and exterior designs, along with printed materials, tablewear, menus and recipes.

Hiroyuki Hiramatsu is chief executive and chef at Hiramatsu and the deal with Conran is the third such foreign alliance for his company.
