The free-pitch ball is in the consultancy court

I agree with Richard Murray (Private View, DW 18 August). Free or part paid pitches are wrong for both client and consultancy alike. The industry, the media and, I suspect, most clients know it.

Consultancies can only blame themselves for clients continuing to exploit their lack of resolve on this point. If we all said “no”, the practice would vanish overnight.

While we should encourage clients to adopt a better sense of fairplay, the solution to stopping this insidious practice is in our own hands.
