Collaboration is essential in a more diversified market

Thank you, Jeremy Garbett, for your think-piece on agency collaboration (DW 20 July). We’re living it at Loewy. Diversity is innovation, inspiration, progress.

The opposition is not ‘the competition’ – it’s within our own minds and the way we think about things. To prosper, we can only embrace lower cost economies, other people’s ideas or new technology. Cross-fertilisation is the future and designers must learn to weave their skills differently – some may major on tight craft skills, others on sparking ideas or creating broader intellectual property. The only limit in today’s design world is the will to connect. Or, as Raymond Loewy might have said: it was ever thus.
