Yorkshire taxi

London is famous internationally for its black cabs and red buses. Why, argues Design Yorkshire, shouldn’t the northern county have its own vehicular icon?

Plans currently under development should, if they go smoothly, feature a concept car illustrating what form such a vehicle could take. Design students from Huddersfield University have taken in a variety of briefs, and ideas are now being developed.

A taxi think-tank team has held consultation sessions with groups including taxi drivers and representatives of the disabled community to find out their opinions on what a Yorkshire taxi should include.
